MERIDEN — A Middletown teen is dead after a rollover crash early Saturday on Research Parkway.

The victim, identified as Yanilis Santiago, 19, was on her way home from work when the crash occurred at about 2:55 a.m.

“Santiago was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control of her vehicle veering off the right side of the roadway in the area of 157 Research Parkway striking the tree,” police said in a press release.

Santiago was found trapped in her vehicle by emergency responders. She was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital where she died of her injuries.

Anyone with information regarding the accident and events leading up to it is asked to contact the Meriden Police Department. Officer Joe Vasquez is the primary investigator along with Sgt. Stanley Zajac.
