This region has had 57,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. Active cases have generally been trending down since late January, and Cy-Fair had 1,467 active cases as of April 19.
Nearly 150,000 residents, or 22% of the overall population of the area, have been fully vaccinated against the virus. Experts recommend about 70% of the population needs to be vaccinated for herd immunity to be achieved.
ZIP code 77433 continues to have the highest percentage of its population fully vaccinated with 32.5%, based on 2019 population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. Just south of there in ZIP code 77449, that percentage falls to 18%—the lowest percentage in the region as of April 19.
At least 252,150 Cy-Fair residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines require two doses to be administered three to six weeks apart. The newest vaccine, from Johnson & Johnson, requires one dose, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In Harris County, 1.6 million individuals had been partially vaccinated and more than 992,000 had been fully vaccinated as of April 19, according to DSHS data. Find more county-level information about the vaccine here.
